Synopsis

Get the Land Back is a biting political satire in the form of a father-son road movie. With dark humor, the film takes a sharp look at the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and the mechanisms of occupation.

When Irmy, a struggling comedian with a pregnant wife, asks his father for financial help, he discovers that his only inheritance is a plot of land in the occupied Palestinian territories – land purchased by his great-grandmother before the establishment of the State of Israel.

For the politically left-wing Irmy, this presents a moral dilemma: Does he have any legitimate claim to this land? And even if he does, should he exercise that right?

Together with his father, he sets out to see the property. Upon arrival, he discovers that right-wing Jewish settlers have taken possession of the land and turned it into a winery. Determined to reclaim his inheritance, Irmy finds himself caught in a confrontation with the settlers, the Israeli military, and the state bureaucracy.

What begins as a personal quest evolves into an absurd and revealing journey through the complex mechanisms of occupation – a darkly humorous exploration that is as comical as it is unsettling.
