A young man sets out on a journey across Iceland, guided by his grandfather’s diary. Together with his best friend, he follows the traces of the past preserved in its pages – and the memories that still echo through them today.
As their journey takes them deeper into Iceland’s breathtaking landscapes, personal memories become increasingly intertwined with the ancient myths and legends of the land.
A journey between past and present, personal memories and timeless tales.

Ralf Branscheidt
Ralf Branscheidt was born in 1998 in Germany’s Ruhr region and grew up in Zeche Zollern, a former mining settlement. From an early age, he developed a passion for documentary filmmaking, particularly the work of Adolf Winkelmann, whose cinematic exploration of the Ruhr region’s industrial heritage had a lasting influence on him.
Branscheidt studied film at Dortmund University of Applied Sciences. During his studies, he gained experience in various areas of film production while also directing films based on his own screenplays.
At the heart of his work is the search for new cinematic perspectives on people, memories, and the worlds they inhabit.
